I have the complete blessing to work with 19 wonderful 4 year olds everyday. I continue to be humbled by the passion, observations, insight, and discoveries my friends find everyday. Here is a peek into our classroom to see the joys of our days. Over half of our class are english as a second language learners, and it's such a joy to see the language emerging and blossoming in our classroom!

The Gingerbread Men Ran Away!!
This is one of my favorite times of the year. We have many book variations of the Gingerbread Man. Some of the books we read were The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Cowboy, The Gingerbread Girl.
We love to do Cook -N- Books in our class so we decided to bake some gingerbread cookies. When we went to the ovent to take them out, they were all gone! The gingerbread boy had run away, but he left us a clue.
We went on a hunt to find the gingerbread boy all over the school! He kept running away though.
Finally, we found him and his friends. They were tired and sleeping so we had to be very quiet.
Then we had the idea to trick him, just like the fox. So we said, "Hey gingerbread boy, why don't you hang out on my back? My arm? My neck? My nose?" And then we ate them before they could run away!

Centers
Centers are one of the most important times in our day. I believe that children learn through playing and play through learning. Centers are constantly changing in the classroom. The kitchen has recently been a hair salon and doctor's office, while the living room has changed to a barbershop and dentist.
Other centers that are open each day are: math tubs, art, paint, computers, toys and games, library, puppet theater, sand and water table, playdough, writing center, blocks, and puzzles.
We send a good chunk of time in centers each day. Students love this time to explore and it's easily a highlight of their day!
During center time you can see students changing centers depending on their interest, clearly defined working spaces. You can hear them asking their friends to come play, someone using their big voice to solve a problem, a teacher calling a students for individual work, and the sound of busy 4 year olds at work!
